Caretakers Of Children At Risk Project

“Northeast Legal Aid (NLA) will implement the Caretakers of Children at Risk (CCR) project, which will focus on supporting elementary school age children whose parents are currently struggling with substance use disorders through the delivery of high quality child-focused legal services to the children and to the non-parent caregivers.

The proposed project is a collaborative effort that involves elementary schools, senior services, local law centers, local judicial courts, and treatment providers. NLA will work with these partners to educate the community about the availability of legal assistance for children and non-parent caregivers affected by substance use issues.The overarching goal of the CCR project is to provide legal services and supports that stabilize the life of these children and reduce the risk of future opiate and substance use.

NLA will collaborate with its partners to design effective community education and outreach programming.”
