Urgent Behavioral Healthcare and Substance Abuse Clinic (UBHC)

“Fairwinds will launch an Urgent Behavioral Healthcare and Substance Abuse Clinic (UBHC) on Nantucket. This clinic will allow Fairwinds to expand service availability to clients. According to the proposal, the goal of the UBHC is to enable staff to triage and stabilize urgent care clients with no waiting time. Fairwinds currently has a waiting list of 20 clients and a 28 day wait for an appointment.

Fairwinds will offer additional hours before and after its normal clinic hours to address urgent care needs. The proposal touches on the UBHC being the safety net that keeps people connected to care and mitigates clients from reaching crisis states. According to the proposal, there have been eight reported completed suicides on Nantucket since January. The UBHC is intended to support clients with mental health needs and substance use disorders. The structure of the UBHC will encompass two clinicians each working 20 hours per week.”
