Compeer West, Inc.

Mental Health First Aid Bridge Funding

“For the past few years, Compeer has also been one of the only agencies offering Mental Health First Aid training to a wide variety of organizations and schools across Erie County. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based program, typically delivered as an eight-hour course, that helps people to improve their understanding of mental illness and addiction. The program has proven to be effective, increasing participant knowledge and their confidence in helping someone who is in distress. The youth-focused curriculum is designed to teach adults how to support an adolescent who is experiencing a mental health issue or crisis.

Funding from the Tower Foundation will allow Compeer to expand the number of trainings they can offer to school districts within Erie County. Each training will reach approximately 25- 30 school staff, including elementary, middle and high school teachers, administrators, and support staff.”
