T.R.U.E. Mentor Program

“Centerboard requests $80,000 over two years to expand its mentoring program. The organization is looking to reach male mentors of color to work with mentees to ensure a culturally-relevant relationship. Centerboard has found that mentoring helps at-risk youth succeed in school, work, and life.

The goal of the T.R.U.E. (Teach one Reach one Uplift one Empower) Mentor Program is to provide youth with a person that gives them individualized attention that supports their growth in addition to a person that they can form a long-term connection. T.R.U.E will help young boys reach their potential regardless of their challenges. Research from the National Mentoring Project shows that mentoring has strong impact on promoting healthy decision-making and positive behaviors. Mentoring relationships influence positive outcomes across social, emotional, behavioral, and academic areas of youth development.”
