Preparing for the Future: Developing New Skills for Mental Wellbeing

“BCAT will implement the Preparing for the Future project. This project will create individualized counseling and therapeutic supports for high school youth and young adults. BCAT is also focused on creating a trauma-informed culture within the organization. The organization is seeing a growing need to have professional expertise on hand to address the mental health needs of students. The addition of a master social worker (MSW) is the key component of this project. This new position will help youth and young adults deal with complex issues that are often outside the abilities of existing BCAT staff. The MSW will engage with youth individually and through small groups to address topics that support mental wellbeing and relationship-building. Overall, the MSW will collaborate with other BCAT staff and support youth in maintaining positive personal associations in their capabilities along with support for their social and emotional needs.”
