“This grant will allow Special Olympics Massachusetts to launch the Inclusive Essex County program over three years, including the following three components:
(1) Developing year-round sports programming in partnership with Northeast ARC.
(2) Supporting growth of existing volunteer-run sports programs, including supporting greater resource-sharing, developing new opportunities for athletes who are aging out of the program, and developing a cadre of volunteer leaders who can help these programs grow.
(3) Launching SOMA’s Unified Champion Schools program, which gives opportunities for high school students with ID to practice and/or play with their peers without disabilities, or “unified champions.””
