Edge Foundation

Edge Training and Coaching for Niagara Falls City Schools: Niagara County

“Through this grant, Edge Foundation will implement their coaching model in the Niagara Falls City School District. Edge is a ten-year-old nonprofit organization that connects students with learning challenges, like ADHD, learning disabilities, and executive function challenges, to a coach to help them realize their potential.
Through this model, Edge trains coaches from within the school (para-educators, support staff, or teachers) to use a non-directive questioning technique, open ended questions, and to focus on the student’s agenda. Coaches learn not to advise or direct students but instead help students to learn to solve problems on their own. Through this strong, non- judgmental relationship between student and coach, students are able to practice and develop agency, persistence, and self-confidence.”
